We’ve found a wonderful source of paper model images over at http://www.juniorgeneral.org/paper.html and we’ve added them to our blogroll. With assets from that site and VT Paper Model Maker, you should have PLENTY of stand-in models. Enjoy!

VT ‘Paper’ Model Builder

We’re adding a simple model creator for Virtual Tabletop to allow players to easily make 3d stand-in models for whatever games they want to play. We understand that finding 3d models for any specific game may prove difficult until VT gains a considerable amount of popularity, so this tool will help fill in the gaps. Its pretty straight-forward. You simply select the front and back images for the model and hit SAVE. Of course, there’s a bit of customization you can do, for instance the actual size of the base and ‘paper’ bit as well as its thickness. If you wanted, you could make a cube and make your own buildings quickly and easily.

With this tool, you’ll have all the models you want, while your waiting around for someone to make nice 3d models.

Campaigner Customizable Combat Engine

Filed under: Campaigner — micah @ 2:51 pm

We’re pleased to announce that fairly soon, we’ll be experimenting with creating new combat engines for Campaigner. This would allow anyone who knows a .Net language to write their own combat engine for Campaigner! The things you can do with that are simply mind-boggling. We hope there will be a few people out there what are interested.

We’ll be starting it off with the Conquest engine. This will allow you to play ‘conquest’ campaigns and NOT fight on the tabletop - the combat will be resolved during turn generation. This is an exciting addition to Campaigner and we hope many other people will want to join in and write their combat engines too.

Adding ‘Attributes’ to Campaigner

Filed under: Campaigner — micah @ 7:54 pm

attributes.PNG One last thing, after adding Indicators and Tokens we decide we ought to put in, to round out the feature set is ‘Attributes’. Attributes are simple descriptive names that are added to a unit type. They don’t change during the game and can represent the unit’s movement value, armor value or any other info you’d like to tack on to you units.
